Missouri Bootheel farmers primarily grow long grain rice, and the state ranked No. 5 in the nation in terms of rice production in 2016. In 2017, the state’s farmers harvested 160,000 acres of rice, which resulted in 1,190 pounds of the crop. Rice brought in $139.8 million in annual cash receipts.
