International Peace Garden
No list of top agritourism destinations in North Dakota is complete without mentioning the world-famous International Peace Garden. Tucked away in the Turtle Mountains, this celebration of peace honors the ideals of camaraderie and cooperation among the United States and other countries. Stroll through acres and acres of prairie and forest or spend a leisurely afternoon admiring the formal gardens, and conservatory. You can even pop into the interpretive center, historic lodge or peace chapel to learn more about the history of the property and what makes it one of the most unique attractions in North Dakota.
The Bison Ranch
The Bison Ranch in Pingree, North Dakota, is a place like none other. This private hunting ranch is home to thousands of acres of prairie land dedicated to raising large herds of bison. The ranch welcomes hunters of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced, to come hunt young bulls and heifers in their natural habitat. After the hunt, the ranch handles skinning, dressing, cleaning and processing the meat so you can take home the highest quality meat possible to fill your freezer. Prairie Village & Museum
Prepare to get lost in local history at the Prairie Village & Museum in Rugby. There are more than 20 buildings filled to the brim with original, historical artifacts to help visitors better understand what life was like for small railroad towns on the prairie at the turn of the century. It’s also the home to the geographical center of North America. Be sure to look through their events calendar before you arrive to see if any unique activities catch your eye. Town Square Farmers Market
Not everyone thinks to check out the local farmers market while visiting a new area, but why pass up an opportunity to support the local food system? The Town Square Farmers Market is located in downtown Grand Forks each Saturday between June and September. It has everything from local music and crafters to fruits, vegetables and meat. You can also peruse the vendors offering premade items like bagels and jams, pastries, and oils and vinegars.
