Grilled Pear and Oat Crisp

Combining sweet, caramelized pears and a crumbly cinnamon oat topping, Grilled Pear and Oat Crisp makes a cozy dessert for any fall day. Serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an irresistible treat packed with seasonal flavor.

Ingredients

  • 6 Bosc pears (about 2 pounds) peeled, cored and quartered
  • ¼ cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar, divided
  • ¾ teaspoon salt, divided
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Place quartered pears on the grill and sear until golden and caramelized, about 1 minute per side.
  3. Place grilled pears in a medium bowl. Add ¼ cup sugar, ¼ teaspoon salt and lemon zest and toss to combine. Pour mixture into a pie dish. Set aside.
  4. In the same bowl, combine the melted butter, flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and remaining ½ teaspoon salt. Mix well to combine. 
  5. Sprinkle the oat crumble mixture over the pear mixture. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon sugar over the crumble. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream on top, if desired.
