Homemade Peppermint Patties
Rich dark chocolate and cool peppermint make a delicious combination in our Homemade Peppermint Patties. Whip up a double batch and you’ll have plenty for stuffing stockings and gifting to friends and family this holiday season.

Ingredients
- ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons peppermint extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 ½ cups powdered sugar, plus more for sprinkling
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 5 ounces dark chocolate
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- Crushed peppermint candies, for topping (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the sweetened condensed milk, butter, and peppermint and vanilla extracts with a hand or stand mixer mix until combined. Add the powdered sugar and salt and mix until the filling mixture starts to come together. It will be sticky.
- Generously sprinkle a piece of parchment paper with powdered sugar. Place the filling mixture on the parchment paper and roll it out into a disc about ¼-inch thick. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.
- Using a 1-inch circular cookie cutter, cut the disc into 32 patties.
- In a bowl, combine the chocolate and oil and microwave on high until chocolate is melted. Allow chocolate to cool slightly before dipping the patties to avoid melting the filling.
- Place the cut-out patty filling on a fork and dip it into the chocolate. Use a knife to slide it off the fork onto a piece of parchment paper. Repeat with remaining patties. Top each patty with crushed candies, if desired.
- Allow patties to set on the counter until hardened. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
