Mulled Cran-Apple Cider
Seasonal flavors of cranberries and apples combine with comforting mulling spices and warm cinnamon in this simple cider recipe.

Ingredients
- 2 6-inch squares cheesecloth
- Kitchen twine
- 2 tablespoons mulling spice
- 1 gallon fresh-pressed apple cider, unsweetened
- 1 quart 100% cranberry juice, unsweetened
- 1⁄2 – 3⁄4 cup pourable brownulated light brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Cinnamon sticks
Instructions
- Make a spice bag by layering two 6-inch squares of cheesecloth on top of each other. Place mulling spice in the middle, bring the edges together and tie securely with kitchen twine.
- Combine spice bag with remaining ingredients, except cinnamon sticks, in a large 8-quart stainless steel stockpot.
- Simmer on medium-low heat for 30 to 45 minutes, allowing flavor to develop.
- Remove mulling spice sachet and serve in mugs with a cinnamon stick.
Tips & Notes
Brownulated sugar is drier and has a larger grain size than moist regular brown sugar and dissolves more easily. If you can’t find any, use regular brown sugar and decrease the amount a bit.
