Brown Butter Asparagus with Hazelnuts

A combination of white and green asparagus makes for a pretty presentation in this seasonal side dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound green asparagus, trimmed with ends peeled
  • 1 pound white asparagus, trimmed and peeled from the tips to the ends
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup hazelnuts, coarsely chopped and toasted

Instructions

  1. Steam asparagus until tender, about 8 minutes. Put the white asparagus on to steam first before adding the green, as it takes a bit longer.
  2. In a large skillet, melt and lightly brown the butter. Toss in the asparagus, salt and toasted nuts. Serve warm.
