Cornbread Croutons

Southern cornbread is the perfect start for crunchy croutons.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf or 8-inch pan of cornbread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, pressed

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Spread cornbread cubes evenly over the surface of a baking sheet with sides. Toast lightly in the oven.
  3. Meanwhile, combine butter, olive oil and garlic in a measuring cup. Microwave just until it begins to bubble.
  4. Drizzle evenly over cornbread cubes. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes. Turn cubes and bake another 10 to 15 minutes, until all sides are browned and cubes are crunchy.
