5. Sweet Alyssum

Sweet Alyssum is a low-growing plant that makes a fantastic ground cover. With potent blossoms and generous clusters of flowers, these plants self-sow and can return year after year in climates without extreme temperatures. While they certainly make for gorgeous in-ground plants, you can also plant them in hanging baskets and planters. Should you choose to add them to your landscape, be sure to provide well-drained soil and moderate water to maintain beautiful, fragrant flowers from June to October.
