As the name suggests, the humble viola is a member of the violet family. There are hundreds of varieties of these eye-catching plants, and you can purchase them as both perennials and annuals. Many gardeners say violas will self-seed, which means you could plant them once and end up with a garden brimming with these gorgeous petals that range in color from light and dark violet to cream, white, blue and even yellow.

    It could use color, but the correct plant 🪴 for the environment
