The inventory of Oklahoma cattle and calves totaled 5.3 million head on January 1, 2019, up 4% from last year’s inventory. Oklahoma makes up 6% of the total inventory of cattle in the United States. Cattle and calves brought the state $3.3 billion in annual cash receipts.

FARM FACT: In the wintertime, mature beef cows with an average body type should eat about 25 to 30 pounds of dry hay or its equivalent per day to get required energy needs.
