Ingredients
- Butter, for greasing baking dish
- 8 ounces (1 package) cream cheese
- 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon pure peppermint extract
- 2-3 candy canes, crushed
Instructions
- Butter the sides and bottom of an 8-inch square baking dish. Set aside.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the cream cheese and chocolate chips. Microwave on high for 2 minutes, stopping to stir after the first minute, until mixture is completely melted and smooth. Continue microwaving on high in 30-second increments if needed to fully melt the mixture.
- Stir in the peppermint extract. The mixture will separate slightly at this stage but will become very smooth after it cools.
- Using a spatula, scoop mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading evenly. Sprinkle the crushed candy canes evenly over the top.
- Chill fudge in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or until set. Cut into 16 large fudge squares or smaller squares as desired before serving.
