Fresh Tomato Salsa

Nothing beats the taste of homemade Fresh Tomato Salsa served on tacos, atop grilled chicken or fish, or alongside chips for dipping. With zesty onions, garlic and a touch of heat from jalapeños, this easy recipe comes together quickly with just a handful of fresh ingredients and a blender.

Ingredients

  • 3 jalapeños
  • 14 ounces (1 can) tomato sauce
  • 1 pound Roma tomatoes, roughly chopped
  • 1 small onion, roughly chopped
  • 2 bundles green onions, roughly chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1 pinch cumin

Instructions

  1. Slice jalapeños in half lengthwise. Scrape seeds out of 2 of the 3 peppers and discard. 
  2. In a blender, combine the jalapeños, tomato sauce, tomatoes, onion, green onions, garlic, water, salt and cumin. Pulse mixture until salsa reaches desired consistency.
  3. Transfer salsa to an airtight container and refrigerate at least 1 hour before serving.
