Meatloaf with Apple Butter Glaze

Grated apples and apple butter add a touch of fall to classic meatloaf in our Meatloaf with Apple Butter Glaze. Simply combine all ingredients in a bowl and shape into a loaf, then spread apple butter over the top, bake and serve.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup panko
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • ½ cup grated apple (about 1 medium)
  • 1 teaspoon ground sage
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ⅔ cup apple butter, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, stir together the panko, milk, eggs and salt. Set aside to rest for about 5 minutes. Add all remaining ingredients except ½ cup apple butter. Mix with clean hands until very well combined. Shape into a loaf and place on a rimmed baking sheet. Spread remaining apple butter evenly over the entire surface of the meatloaf.
  3. Bake for 1 ½ hours. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Tips & Notes

This autumn meatloaf makes great sandwiches. Try it on rustic sourdough bread with Gruyere cheese.
