It’s better for the environment.

Remember how we said that most of the items in your grocery store came from faraway places? It takes a lot of work and resources to get those products from one side of the country (or world) to the other. In addition to less pollution and fewer emissions required to haul the goods all over the globe, your local farmers are much less likely to wrap their products in plastic. Grab a cotton tote or two on your way out the door and you can give yourself another pat on the back for avoiding unnecessary waste.
