White Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Creamy white chocolate and cool peppermint make the perfect pair in a mug of White Peppermint Hot Chocolate. Add an extra touch of seasonal cheer with a dollop of homemade peppermint whipped cream and crushed peppermints sprinkled over the top.

Ingredients

Whipped Cream Topping:

  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1-2 drops peppermint extract

Hot Chocolate:

  • ½ cup white chocolate chips
  • 2 ½ cups milk, divided
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1-2 drops peppermint extract
  • Candy canes, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. For whipped cream: In a large bowl, use a hand or stand mixer to beat cream on high speed until soft peaks form. Add sugar and peppermint extract and beat again stiff peaks form. Set aside.
  2. For hot chocolate: In a small saucepan, combine the white chocolate chips with ½ cup milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Once chocolate is completely melted, stir in the remaining 1 ½ cups milk, salt and peppermint extract. Continue cooking over medium heat until warm.
  3. Pour hot chocolate into 2 mugs. Top each serving with a dollop of whipped cream and garnish with crushed or whole candy canes, if desired.

Tips & Notes

This recipe yields more whipped cream than needed. Save the extra in the fridge for your next batch of hot chocolate.
